Steve Harvey was left in tears after being surprised by couple who helped him while homeless and living in car
In a memorable television moment, Steve Harvey was moved to tears when surprised by a couple who had assisted him during a period of homelessness.
The host of Family Feud has witnessed numerous iconic moments on his show, but none quite as poignant as this one.
Over a decade ago, Harvey was emotionally overwhelmed after receiving a phone call from a couple who played a significant role in his life.
During a special birthday episode of his show, Harvey’s producers informed him that someone special was waiting on the line. The TV presenter’s reaction was captured on camera as he got a glimpse of Rich Liss on the monitor, leading him to break down in tears.
Introducing himself, Liss, from Orlando, Florida, asked, “Do you still love me, baby?” It turned out that Liss had called in to wish Harvey a happy birthday, marking 30 years since he had provided more than just wishes for Harvey’s 26th birthday.
Liss and his wife Becky had assisted Harvey in getting back on his feet when he was living in his car. Holding back tears, Harvey expressed his gratitude, saying, “I didn’t have nothing. These people took me in.”
“I love you, man,” Harvey added, to which an emotional Liss responded, “I love you too, man.”
Harvey went on to recount the situation involving himself and Liss, revealing that Liss had allowed him to open a bank account in his name at a travel agency. Despite accruing an $11,000 bill, Liss never asked him to repay it.
Emotionally, Harvey said, “I got money now, Rich. I’m going to fly a plane out to Orlando to pick up you and Becky. I’m going to fly you out to the show. I’ve been looking for you for years, man. You guys bailed me out, and I never forgot it.”
This heartfelt moment followed Harvey’s defense of his wife, Marjorie Harvey, amidst affair rumors. Married since 2007, the couple shares a strong bond, with Harvey adopting Marjorie’s three children from a previous relationship and having four other children from past relationships. Harvey reassured his audience, stating, “[My] marriage is fine,” and urged them to focus on other matters.
