Tesla robot ‘attacks’ engineer leaving ‘trail of blood’ across factory floor
Concerns have surfaced regarding the safety of Tesla employees as reports suggest an increase in accidents attributed to robotic co-workers. Allegations of underreporting of workplace accidents have been raised, with an attorney representing contact laborers at Tesla’s Giga Texas facility claiming evidence of such practices. According to the attorney, one in every 21 Giga Texas workers suffered on-the-job injuries in 2022, indicating potential risks associated with automated robots in the workplace.
The apprehension grew following an incident at the Giga Texas Factory, where a robot reportedly malfunctioned and aggressively attacked a worker. Witnesses described the worker being pinned down while the robot clawed at his back, resulting in blood on the floor. Despite an injury report indicating a wound on the hand, the engineer allegedly did not take time off work for medical assistance.
The attorney, Hannah Alexander, highlighted the broader issue of underreported incidents within Tesla, including the death of an employee in 2021. According to Alexander, workers’ injuries, and in some cases, fatalities, are not accurately documented in reports submitted to the county for tax incentives. The alleged underreporting extends to construction workers, with claims that injuries, including the death of worker Antelmo Ramírez, have not been properly recorded.
The reported rate of accidents among Tesla workers stands at one in 21, in contrast to the industry standard of one in 30 for workplace accidents. Alexander emphasized the discrepancy, expressing concerns about the accuracy and completeness of injury reports submitted by Tesla.
